SPTA Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I join the SPTA?

When you join the SPTA as a member, participate in fundraising opportunities, or contribute a donation, you are supporting enriching the education and experiences of the students at SBS. This includes activities such as scholarships, teacher grants, class trips, assemblies, clubs and community events.

Who can join the SPTA?

Memberships are open to parents with students currently enrolled at SBS, as well as SBS teachers. Sponsorships are available for businesses. Stay tuned for more information on all membership and sponsorship opportunities for the 26/27 school year.

What is the Newsflash?

The Newsflash is a weekly email newsletter sent to SPTA members every Sunday afternoon. It’s your go-to resource for staying up to date on everything happening at SBS!

Each week, you’ll find a quick snapshot of upcoming school events, your child’s specials schedule, PTA lunch reminders, links for tickets, spirit wear and other initiatives, plus information about upcoming events and fundraisers, volunteer opportunities, and important announcements.

Think of it as your one-stop shop for all things SBS! An easy way to stay informed and make sure you don’t miss anything!

What kind of events does the SPTA host?

Events are subject to change, but previous years have included the following: daddy/daughter dance, mother/son event, moms’ night out, dads’ night out, annual spring gala, theater workshop, clubs, book fair and more! Keep an eye out for announcements via email, in the Sunday Newsflash, on the website, on social media and during the monthly SPTA meetings.

Is it mandatory to volunteer at events as a member?

No, volunteering at events is not mandatory. We’re all parents and understand that everyone has busy schedules and different availability. There are many ways to support the SPTA, and you can choose what works best for you.

Throughout the year, we may need help with one-time events, set-up and clean-up, or other small tasks that don’t require a significant time commitment. Even lending a hand for a short time can make a big difference!

How do I get involved?

The SPTA holds monthly meetings where we share updates, discuss upcoming events, and highlight ways to get involved. We offer both in-person and virtual options to make participating as easy and convenient as possible.

Subscribe to the SBS calendar to automatically sync meetings, events, and important dates to your personal calendar so you don’t miss out!

You can also keep an eye on our emails and social media for volunteer opportunities throughout the year. There are lots of ways to help, and if you ever have any questions you may reach out to us at any time at ShrewsburyPTA@gmail.com.
